Motivational

Personal Mission Statement and Mantra:

“Know that on this day I shall not accept mediocrity. Jesus Christ persevered for 40 days and 40 nights. Let this be a new day. Let this be an active day. Let this be a productive day. Let me walk as Jesus walked. I shall persevere on this newest day. Amen.”

“The Time Is Now”

If by the title you can’t tell what this week’s motivational is about I’ll sum it up in two words – BARACK OBAMA. Believe it or not I won’t be long winded here. I don’t think this occasion calls for it. That said, here we go…

For the first time in U.S. history a black man of African-American descent has the opportunity to be President of the United States of America. In a country where race issues are often swept under the carpet only to build up, but never to be dealt with, this is happening. Not only is Barack Obama poised to be President of this great land, but he is a candidate that brings the credentials that demand respect.

He didn’t grow up with a silver spoon. He moved around-all over the world. He put himself through university – Harvard. He got down and dirty and helped build communities that most would just leave for dead. He decided that regardless of pedigree and quantity of experience anyone can run for president, and win. He has what it takes, and he knows it, and he wants the American people to know it as well.

Of course it hasn’t been a golden path to this point. He’s made mistakes. He’s said stupid things, and has done some things that do warrant closer examination. That said, he is still here, and he is in position to do great things. If he doesn’t win the General Election at least he would have pushed the marker (to say the least). He’s put the light in every child’s eye, black, brown, whatever, that if you work hard and put your mind to it, you can achieve amazing things.

And for all the neysayers out there that believe this is just a slick scam from Obama…I’ll pray for you because my faith can’t let me believe that Obama would scam us like George W. Bush did with his “Compassionate Conservatism – I’m A Uniter Not A Divider” banner. My faith tells me that humanity can rebound, and Obama is the path to salvation for the United States of America.

Obama has raised the conversation. Let’s attend. Let’s listen. Let’s learn. Let’s make that change. We are ready. I believe that…I hope you do to.

Peace
